Sale of Land at Hillside, South Brent, South Devon (By Auction)

A packed auction room at the Royal Oak Inn, South Brent witnessed some very exciting and bullish bidding for three fields on the edge of the village, situated in Hillside. The land was offered for sale by Luscombe Maye’s auctioneer Stuart Hext on behalf of Mr. John Mead.

Lot one comprised two small field enclosures, extending to a total of 3.5 acres saw the bidding open at £45,000 and after twenty six frenzied bids from a number of hopeful purchasers, the hammer was finally dropped at £62,500.

Lot two, a single field extending to 3.68 acres, the bidding opened on this lot at £40,000 and after a sluggish start accelerated away with the hammer dropping at £54,500 after twenty four bids.

These two lots averaged £16,270 per acre.
